Rationale for planning
! This project can be developed with a group of Basic students who have previous knowledge of food and drinks. In this phase of their English learning, they can develop more vocabulary and talk about their own food. It is a nice opportunity to use the language in real situations and show how meaningful the language can be. The community comes from modest means and also sees the study of the language as an obligation for their school. A project like this one involves them and show how exciting it is when we have technology and language in a project where they are the authors.
! Some problems we may have are about the vocabulary and how our food would be in English. We say that some food like feijoada and tutu de feijão can be explained by the photos and the descriptions. Another problem can be the use of the technology. In class we explain how to use each technology and tell students they can use one of the two computers we have in our school. It is a challenge but that`s what we have. We also give them our e-mails to be in touch with them for any help.

Wow, Kelly and Cleverson, what a fantastic work you've done! Your idea to adapt what the course book offers with students being in charge of their learning process is just excellent. You have all ingredients for a successful collaboration. I'd love to see the outcomes when they add their creations to the wiki. By the way, here's a trick for pbwiki that you might find useful and I shared with Lilian " Your students don't need to create accounts. As a teacher, you can create a class pbwiki. Then, go to settings, "users". There's an option of creating students accounts without their emails. Click there and add your students and give a password to each one of them. Ready! They're ready to start writing! Another thing you need to pay attention to is that students in the computer lab can't edit the same wiki page at the same time. They need to be on different pages. The easiest way is just as you mentioned it. You creating the pages before the class and having them work on different wikipages".
Your lesson plan is well-sequenced and with an effective approach to the use of technology to give learners this sense of ownership as they will have their own "virtual restaurants".
Just one detail. Instead of directing them to use Google images which are mainly copyrighted images and they shouldn't use it on their projects, show them how to use Flickr Creative Commons Licensed photos and how to give credit to the images they use. This is a very important skill you'll be teaching them. You can even direct them straight to http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/ I'm sure they will find wonderful pictures there that they can make creative uses in their project.Another tip is to have your own model of a wikipage so that learners can have an idea, the starting point for their own restaurant project.

I'm truly excited about your project and am curious to know about the outcome as I know how limited your tech resources are at your school. What makes the whole difference in this case is your willingness to be part of the new paradigms in the 21st century classroom. Congrats! You're an inspiration to all of us!
